Muslims Properly Dealt With

Islam, in and by itself, is not the culprit everyone thinks it is. The extremists are the culprits, as they are in any religio/belief. Their culture is different, but ours is different, too. How many of you remember, or have read about the "age of McCarthyism"? What about the Civil War? Better yet, what about the Crusades? With the exception of McCarthyism, all of these periods in time were mostly about "pushing" christian beliefs onto people who did not want them. These acts were performed by extremists of the christian faith. The same holds true of Islam.

Now, how many of you have ever had any direct contact with Muslims on a daily basis? I have and believe me, they are passionate about their beliefs. Most christians aren't passionate. My point is this: Most people tend to hate what they don't understand and despise what they can't have.

Haven't been around for the discussion about the crusades being easily shown to have been a defensive response to Islamic imperialism which within 100 years of the death of Muhammad had taken most of Europe up to and including Spain and part of France as well as Northern Africa?

At some point a stand absolutely had to be taken.

I firmly disagree with anyone who suggests that adherence to a religion founded by a known pedophile, slave owner, rapists, and murderer is not to blame for any part of the actions of Islamic terrorists. In fact the idea is absurd.

McCarthyism and the civil war are terrible analogies and are completely incompatible with the issue.

Your personal anecdotal experiences are just that and are also meaningless to the issue.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, I just believe it to be based on an unrealistic, and somewhat uninformed worldview. It might make for a nice politically correct statement but simply isn't supported by centuries of evidence.

Not really...I've come to realize that all religions have their fair share of backwards beliefs and zealots...and that in itself took critical thinking. Not all folks are sheep or lemmings.

I was trying to show that there are fanatics in every religion. I wasn't necessarily putting down any religion. Peope believe what they want, but don't try and push your beliefs off on me.

It is wrong to think that one religion is better than another religion. You missed my whole point Gotch. I was trying to point out that every belief/religion has its zealots. That is what the Crusades were about. Christians were trying to drive the "savage" non christians out of Jerusalem. How many times have you heard christians say that if you don't believe in Jesus and that He died on the cross for our sins, then you are going to hell?

The muslim radicals are just that...."radical". There are radical christians too. Our society tends to label them as cults and at the same time we label muslim radicals as terrorists.

Of couse you have to admit that there is a big differace for telling someone that they are going to hell becouse they do not belive the same as you and killing someone for that very same reason

Tell that to the native people of North America...after all the finger pointing, read Bartolome de las Casas's "A Brief Account of the Destruction of the Indies" and slowly begin to realize that Christians have a history of spreading their faith through the same means that Muslim extremists do. You go ahead, and I'll stick to my redneck, backwoods, ignorant beliefs,,,in which im entitled to because...American blood was and still is be shed by young men and women, even for the damn liberals that refuse to see the light.
